Honoring Our Heroes: National Military Family Month at Green Valley Elementary

Each November, we proudly observe National Military Family Month—a time dedicated to recognizing and honoring the courageous families who stand behind our nation's service members. This important month offers us the opportunity to reflect on the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by military families, including those of active-duty, Guard, and Reserve personnel.

These families embody strength, resilience, and unwavering support—especially during deployments and service-related responsibilities. Their quiet courage and commitment are essential to the success and well-being of our armed forces.

This observance closely aligns with Veterans Day, a time when our nation pauses to honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. At Green Valley Elementary, we are committed to showing our gratitude and support to the military families within our community.

As part of this month-long celebration, our 5th grade students will present a special patriotic program honoring veterans and military families. In addition, we invite our Green Valley families to help us create a hallway display of honor:

  • Please send in a copy of a photo of any family member who has served or is currently serving in the military.
  • Include their name, branch of service, and relationship to your student (if possible).

These photos will become part of a meaningful patriotic display, allowing our students and staff to visually honor the legacy of service that lives within our own school community.

Thank you for helping us celebrate and support the brave families who serve our country with strength and pride. If you have any questions or want additional information, please contact Amy Potts (amy.potts@birdvilleschools.net).
